Among the Mini-School activities in the past years there have been backpacking trips, ski trips, rock climbing trips, bicycle trips, LSD trips, and more or less charity trips, such as the Rosebud trip to South Dakota to lend the reds a hand. But the most exciting of all is when Doug Berg and a comrade lead an excursion into the wilderness in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area.
Berg, and comrades, (about 8 students and another experienced woodsman), set out from a point near Ely, Minnesota, taking just enough food to last their approximate 10-day journey, and boldly go where other men have gone before.
Last spring I myself went wandering aimlessly in the north woods with Berg and eight others and had a great time, with the exception of Berg’s (soul-searching) raps and his terrible singing. But if you should go you’d have to push hard and you would all have to pitch in with the work, and you would have to cooperate or the trop just wouldn’t go. It’s a lot of fun and if you have a chance to go take it, it is a very good experience.
There will be 1 possibly 2 canoe trips leaving in May so I’ll keep you posted on dates, ect.
