Salary negotiations between the Minnetonka school board and Minnetonka teachers seem to be at a standstill. The teachers, in an effort to call attention to their situation, have voted to “work to contract” starting October 20th. Briefly this means that Minnetonka teachers will walk into the building at 7:30, and walk out at 3:30, and will do nothing extra (take schoolwork home, serve on committees, supervise student activities and clubs, supervise field trips).
This, of course, hits Mini-School right in its trips program. The MTA (Minnetonka Teachers Association) has given Mini-School the OK to conduct its Mississippi River trip since the trip was planned some time ago. Mini-School nor any other program or class can plan any trips after October 20th, however, until the board and teachers can reach a salary settlement. The way things look now, the Mississippi trip could possibly be the last Mini—School trip of the year.
