The Freshwater Biological Institute is the biggest gift given to the University of Minnesota next to the Heart Hospital. It is the only Institution of its kind in existence today. The purpose of the Institute is to study the habitat of everything in fresh water lakes in this country. The major purpose of the Institute is not to work on Lake Minnetonka, but it will be the guinea pig for study.
The staff consists of five major scientists from around the world and when completed, it will have a full time staff of eight scientists and many different assistants.
Some of the students and staff from Mini-School took a tour and found it very interesting. I believe it would be a good experience for anyone interested in the field of environmental studies.
