On the corner of 101 and Minnetonka Blvd. there is a little doughnut shop which is famous for their fruit cake. As you walk into this wood sided building you first notice the country look of the blue wallpaper with white hearts, the fake flowers on all the tables, the soothing country music and the awkward, enormous goose with the words “Robert’s Bakery” nailed to the wall. I work in this sickening development M W F 11:30-2 and T and TH 12-5:30. That schedule switches off every other week so I also work on Sat. from about 7-2 which according to me is way too long being that I’ve worked there since mid December of 1995. I have encountered lots of insane crazies and just plain annoying people in this time span. Not to mention the ladies I have to work with. Thank goodness it’s only for two and a half hours everyday. I would also like to inform you that the story of pigs coming into bakeries, eating doughnuts holds true. Bakeries come into contact with quite a few of them.
The kinds of doughnuts I have the liberty of serving are chocolate, vanilla and maple Long Johns, Apple Fritters, lemon and raspberry custard, blue Bismarks, peanuts, glazed, sugar, raised, chocolate and vanilla cake, blueberry, apple spice, pumpkin, Old Fashion and plain cake doughnuts. I also serve cupcakes, bagels, bagel stix, Danishes and cookies.
My boss is really cool. She got the place handed down from her parents that owned it and opened it. She’s about 30 yr. old and owns it with her husband who also fries the doughnuts at night. She has two kids. She is really great to work for.
If you like doughnuts but you’re still not convinced to come try these, talk to Geoff Boller and he’ll tell you about all the doughnuts that he has enjoyed in the 10 long months since I’ve been employed. If you’re in the area stop by. I’m sure I’ll be counting the minutes until I leave this awful country motif.
