“The Green Mile”
By: Steven King
This bizarre tale begins with our narrator, Paul Edgecomb, telling his story about the year of 32’, the year of John Coffey, when everything changed. The place is Cold Mountain Penitentiary, where our narrator is the head of the E block….also known as “The Green Mile.” The place where condemned criminals live out their last days, and where the electric chair….. referred to as “Old Sparky,” awaits them at the end of the Green Mile, to pay the ultimate price.
Steven King takes you on a ride of deep contemplation, and massive realizations through this novel, that begins on Death Row and burrows inward to the most horrific secrets of the human soul. I give this multi-part serial novel a definite 10 for Steven King fans…..and a 9 for suspense fans.
