On Thursday December 17, Jessica Hoium, Elissa Johnson, Shaun Johnson, David Larson-Hughes, Audrey Lopez, Nick Merchant, Jamie Rasmussen, Craig Schrupp, Leah Shoberg, Jesse Steinwand, Seth Stiebinger, Jessica Turner, and Carrie Tiggas met at Perkins to attend Dudley Riggs Brave New Workshop for its anniversary show. We all piled in 2 vans and trooped to Calhoun Square where the new theater is. We didn’t know exactly where it was so we wandered around for awhile until we finally found it.
We arrived early so Doug gave us our tickets and let us loose (yikes!!) Elissa, Nick and I went to find something to eat. The only place we could find was the Mighty Wraps, but everything on the menu would take 20 minutes or more just to make and we didn’t have that much time, SO we just ordered some chips and salsa. (Which by the way still took 15 minutes). We raced back upstairs, chips in hand, and made it just in time for the show to start. I recognized some of the cast from last year when we went.
Dudley Riggs is a mix of skits which are generally pretty politically incorrect. This always makes for a lot of laughs. My favorite part personally is when they improv. The audience picks about 6 adjectives and 6 numbers 1-100. The numbers are different kinds of music on a keyboard and they have to improvise to what they hear. They take the adjectives and start from there and see what happens. It’s fun because nobody knows what is going to happen next.
Dudley Riggs is a real fun experience. Sometimes you don’t know if you should laugh or be shocked. That is what I like about it. I’m real glad I went. Congratulations to Dudley Riggs on his anniversary.
