Our featured alumni is Lesley Zaun. A former Mini-Schooler who was in Mini in ‘85-’87. I called her at her office and she was kind enough to take time out of her schedule to talk to me.
After Mini she was still short some credits so she got her G.E.D. She went to Ireland for six years going back and forth to the U of M and Trinity College in Dublin, Ireland. She was on the Dean’s list at the U of M and was Awarded Internship Scholarship. In Ireland she met her husband Cathal Ryan. He was born and raised in Dublin. After they came back to the States she went to William Mitchell College of Law where she earned a 3.22 GPA and was ranked in the top 23% of her class. She practices law at Oskie & Bauch, P. A.
I asked her a little about what she remembers about Mini. She remembers her favorite memory and she had a couple. She liked Randy’s newspaper class because she is a news hound. She also really enjoyed Lester’s Women’s Study group. She liked the forum for discussing the many issues that young women face. She went on one trip to Florida with Norm.
I asked her if she had any thoughts on Doug’s retirement. She said of course he is entitled to retire but he is a great teacher. He is a role model and he really helps people. He is an inspiration. He really helped me and my brother. Who knows where I’d be without Mini-School.
I really enjoyed my time talking to Lesley and I want to thank her for taking time to talk to me. Her accomplishments should inspire young Mini-Schoolers. Thank you Lesley and congratulations.
