On the night of January 7, Mini-school Finally, FINALLY, got the national recognition it’s deserved these last twenty-nine years. As in the little article below (that was clipped from the school news bulletin that everyone in the district gets.) the award was given to us by the National Dropout Prevention Network. Doug chose three people to speak on behalf of Mini-school, and the difference that it’s made in their lives. The student speaker was me, Leah Shoberg, the Mini-alumnus speaker was Josh Day, and the parent speaker of Mini kids was Debbi Ennis-mother of Mike and Kristi-both Mini alumnus.
I believe that all of us got our point across well enough, and that many people were amazed at just how big a difference Mini has made, not only in our lives, but in the lives of all of those somehow related to Mini-school.
The night went smoothly, with many parents, teachers, students, and supporters of Mini-school, to help us celebrate what we’ve been striving for all this time; to make a difference.
