In Mini-School we have a great program to keep kids out of trouble, and also help them make money. Variety of kids in Mini-School all are given a great opportunity to earn credit by going to work after school. You can earn up to .50 credit per quarter.
You have to work on average of 10 to 15 hours a week. The kids in Mini have a great variety of jobs. The place where the most Mini-School kids work is Cub Foods. There are about four people there, Charlie Urbia, Derek Knowles, Seth Stiebinger, and Ryan Prich. We also have a good variety of kids that work with cars and car parts like Mike Ayotte at Amoco, Jesse Steinwand at Midas and Josh Boudreau works at the Hopkins car wash.
A lot of people work with fast food. A big place of employment is McDonalds in Excelsior. Tom Miller is a shift manager there. James Froehming, Marti Norris, and Shawna Sterns also work there.
Many kids don’t have this opportunity to get out of school at 11:15 to go make some money and get credit. We’re fortunate.
