Winter camping trip: Set in Boundary Waters canoe area goes out on March 10th and returns on the 17th. 8 students can go. There will be snowshoeing, cross country skiing, and exploring and camping out.
The Big Utah trip: Goes out on April 12th, 1999 and returns on the 28th. 16 days long canoeing on the Green River near Moab, Utah. Hiking in the Arches National park and other parts near Moab. There will be an 8 day canoe trip down the Green River through Canyonlands National Park. Only 8 students can go. 3 alumni will meet up in Utah also. Doug isn’t telling what qualifications you should have to be the most eligible for the trip, but I’m sure that if you’re a senior, your odds are better.
Black Hills/Badlands Trip– May 9-17: Randy leads this group of 7 intrepid trippers hiking and biking through South Dakota as they learn the history, archeology, socioeconomic and environmental issues of the area.
BWCA Canoe Trip– May 19-27: Doug says if he had to give up all trips but one, this is the one he’d keep. The 7 students and Doug will paddle across lakes and hike across centuries-old portages. This is a tough trip, but a good one.
Bike Trip– The first week of June: Randy, and as many Mini-School kids as he can get to go with him will ride through S.E. Minnesota and S.W. Wisconsin.
Summer Canoe Trips
As they have for several years, Doug and Randy will lead 2 summer school canoe trips down the Namekagon & St. Croix Rivers June 14-18, and June 21-25. 14 students can participate in each trip. Students register for these trips through Community Services.
