I went on the second Mark Warren trip it was a wonderful experience for all of the trip members included: Jessica Johnson, Lindsay Klug, Tom Mason, Dustin Mencel, Kelly Meyers, Alaina Mielke, John Shannon, Amanda Sheats, and Stein Thorbeck. All of us got along very well we all “bonded” with each other and ourselves.
We participated in many activities such as; zoogel, stalking games and gling. We made rope out of bark and built a fire without using a match. They all were great learning experiences and a lot of fun. In the daytime we did the activities, but the night was our time, so many unforgettable memories were made such as the “Mickey Mouse formation” (props to Dustin) that gave us a good laugh. We also can’t forget the sleepless nights. All we heard was Dustin and Stein serenading us till about 3:00 a.m. Stein would provide, “In the Year 2000,” then Dustin would ad-lib the endings. For example “who knows, maybe Merlin’s bag-pipe band will make it big.”
And then there was Tom, or “Mot,” who fell in the fire. That was hilarious. Dustin and Stein made fun of Tom the whole trip, and when I made one comment Tom freaked out on me. It was super funny. The rest of the trip was just the basic hiking, learning, and eating. Except, for the sweat lodge. That was an unexplainable feeling. I have never experienced anything so spiritual in my life. Afterwards, I had such a peaceful sensation. I felt like I was one with nature. The Mark Warren trip was truly unforgettable.
